Enjoying Life on the Indian River Lagoon Coast
6″ x 9″ Paperback
Enjoying Life on the Indian River Lagoon Coast is two books in one. Like Catching Made Easy, it’s an instructional guide, but it’s also a personal diary of my experiences. This month-to-month journal depicts the day-to-day highs and lows of life for water folk living along the shores of North America’s greatest and most diverse estuary, the Indian River Lagoon.
Touching on topics as far reaching as sleeping with sea turtles and saving struggling sharks, this book gives you a personal and detailed look at a broad range of subjects. It covers multiple types of fishing, like surf, spin, offshore, shallow water and fly fishing in the surf. Other subjects discussed are surfing Florida’s east central coast, understanding Florida hurricanes, fishing the Banana River Lagoon’s No Motor Zone/Manatee Refuge, diving for stone crabs, shrimping the Mosquito and Indian River Lagoons, and one of my favorite passive pastimes, hunting for sea beans among the beach’s wrack line.
We visit special places, like Oak Hill, Canaveral National Seashore, Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, Sebastian Inlet State Park, Playalinda Beach, Satellite Beach, Cocoa Beach, Jensen Beach, and a whole lot of other beaches along our beautiful coast. Join me in Enjoying Life on the Indian River Lagoon Coast!
Other topics included in the book are catching snook, redfish, spotted sea trout, and tarpon. I discuss techniques while fishing with well-known anglers like Mark Nichols, Randy Walker, and John Kumiski. There’s a bit about paddling in the ocean to catch tarpon, shark, barracuda, kingfish and snook, and I have also included tutorials on fishing plastic baits, DOA Lures in particular.
